Early Head Start Center Assistant (Part-time)
Position: Center Assistant
Program and Location: Early Head Start
Position Summary: The Center Assistant provides support to staff by assisting in the classroom and with meals when needed, and ensuring classroom inventories are stocked.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in classrooms as needed, including providing classroom coverage during staff breaks.
- Assist cook with meal preparation, as needed, or perform cook duties in his/her absence.
- Deliver meals and snacks to classrooms and assist in classrooms during mealtime.
- Assist staff with ensuring food, kitchen, and classroom inventories are stocked.
- Be actively engaged in all Head Start activities and model appropriate behavior.
- Purchase program supplies.
- Ensure laundry is done daily.
Education Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED. Consideration will be given to individuals working towards GED.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
Required Skills:
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the general public and agency employees
- Excellent communication skills
- Model appropriate and professional behavior
Schedule/Hours: 12 hours per week for 52 weeks per year. Monday-Friday. Hours range from 8:00 a.m. - noon, with some flexibility in the schedule.
Pay Rate: $15.78 per hour. Benefits are not available for this position.
