Head Start Teacher Aide Substitute - General Application

Position: Teacher Aide

Position Summary: The Teacher Aide is responsible for providing teacher support in the classroom. The Teacher Aide also provides a safe, pleasant, active learning, and problem-solving environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assume the role of Teacher Aide during absences
  • Assist in classroom management.
  • Assist in daily classroom activities and provide classroom support.
  • Assist in implementation of the curriculum including active learning and practices that are developmentally appropriate.
  • Assist in implementation of oral health practices.
  • Be actively engaged in all Head Start activities and model appropriate behavior.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in a child care environment is preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the general public and agency employees.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Model appropriate and professional behavior.

Schedule/Hours:  No set schedule, position is substitute, or as needed. Generally, hours are between 8 am and 3 pm, M-F.  Position can lead to regular employment for the right candidate if a position becomes available.

Pay Rate: The starting base rate of pay per hour is $15.25.
